Cold Sculpting

Cryolipolysis is a procedure that works by destroying subcutaneous fat that is sensitive to a temperature below freezing. Fat Cells (adipocytes) disappear gradually through a process of inflammation, starting within a few days after the procedure and continuing in the months ahead. The procedure is called cryolipolysis.

Cryolipolysis can be used to treat problem fat areas, such as belly fat and “love handles.” Furthermore, cryolipolysis is highly effective in reducing saddlebags, thigh circumference, fat layers in the hip area, back fat, arms, legs, and chin.

Cryolipolysis Fat Targeting Zones:

  • Fat under the buttocks (also known as a banana roll)

  • Flanks (also known as love handles)

  • Double chins

  • Thighs

  • Abdomen

  • Bra fat

  • Back fat

Cryolipolysis has generally mild and temporary side effects, with no serious complications and with minimal, or no pain. Redness and warmth (erythema) in the treated area resolve after an average of 15 hours. There is a possibility of some bruising, and numbness in the treated area, which are expected to subside. Typically, numbness or sensory deficits will subside within a month.

FAQs

Cryolipolysis is not a treatment for obesity or a weight loss solution, and it does not replace traditional methods such as diet-nutrition, and exercise.

What is the first step to getting treatment:

The first step in the treatment process is an assessment. The doctor will perform a thorough assessment of you, and identify the areas of major concern. During the assessment, other areas that may be impacting your shape of the figure can also be determined. You and your doctor will decide together the best course of treatment.

It is important that the fat is subcutaneous. Fat that can be grabbed or pulled. By the end of the assessment, the doctor and the patient will discuss a global plan to help you achieve your unique body sculpting goals.

What does Cryolipolysis feel like?

After your treatment area(s) are properly marked, and the skin in that area is prepared, the cryolipolysis treatment is ready to begin. If you consent, photos will be taken to create an initial image to help assess improvement.

First, a protective gel is applied to the treatment area. Then, the machine is applied to the skin and allowed to run for between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area, and the quantity of tissue involved.

During the first 3 minutes of treatment, you may feel a cold sensation. It may also feel like a pulling sensation on the tissue. During minutes 3-5, you may feel a slight cold tingling sensation – like if you were to stick your hand in an ice chest.

After this stage, the area will be numb for the rest of the procedure, and for some minutes after treatment. The actual treatment process is fast and easy, and you could even bring a book, a computer, or just rest for the duration.

How long does it take to see the results?

Many patients may begin to see results in about three weeks. But the full result is usually seen in four months after treatment. Cryolipolysis results are seen over a period of a few months because the process of cell death is not instantaneous. Fat cell death happens over time, but once the fat cells are destroyed, they won’t return.

The duration between treatments:

The same body part (target zone) can be if you’re considering a second treatment to improve the results of your first, which are 16 weeks. Ideally, you want to wait as long as you can because you want maximum results. Scheduling your sessions too close together can affect your results. Although waiting for 1-3 months is common. A physical assessment should be done after 8 weeks to determine your next steps.
